Larry Graham is a good musician, but I still think he's an idiot. It has nothing to do with him being black but everything to do with him being OVERLY RELIGIOUS. He doesn't seem to be able to shut up about it. ANYONE who's too religious I'm going to criticize, and that includes a lot of white people, like John Ashcroft and the stupid president, George Bush.

Otherwise, he's old news as far as I'm concerned, and totally outlived his purpose in prince's music career. They can be bible buddies and whatever, I just don't like his role in prince's music (nor his influence on prince, but that's entirely up to Prince and I don't blame him for that).

They have convinced people that in order to save a place in heaven for themselves,they have to earn there way in,by recruiting people every week and that if they dont they are looked down on and are told the will lose their place in heaven. This is false. Only those who are saved go to heaven. It doesnt say you have a quota to fill before your time here on earth is over that will get you into heaven!


Language isnt bad unless used to slander someone or used in reference to someone when abusing them. I myself dont believe in the use of language in a conversation. But thats a personal thing, not because of any religion. I dont swear because I dont feel it nessesary to use it. And I dont take kindly to be sworn at either.

I could understand if Prince took out the swearing because he was putting down women...but he wasnt. I dont know exactly what Larry has been feeding into Prince's mind. But I like listening to Prince's old stuff ...with the swearing and all. It doesnt bother me...because it's not like he is saying I am any of the things he is singing about.

Really I told Miles that I for 1 am not racist at all and think Larry is cool. Everybody should stop seeing Color and stop Dogging Larry and the JWS. Everybody has a right to be heard. But I do agree that no one should Preach except in church! Seperation of Church and State. Let people choose for themselves which path to follow. Educate them but give options. There just isn't 1 path...

flip side: well, larry IS also a warm, friendly, intelligent human being. he is talented, hard working and holds true to what he believes. he is loyal to his family and he works to live a life of positivity. he's accomplished a lot with his life. his influence on prince can't be all bad.
i don't know. my views on religion are strange. so i can't be fair about my assessment of the situation. maybe the JWS aren't a cult anymore than the any othe religion is. maybe a cult isn't the worst thing. after all, larry could be completely spiritually bankrupt. he could a gun-toting gang member selling crack to kids - but he's not.
i feel ashamed when i think about the fact that he probably doesn't spend his time sitting around typing mean things about us.

Let me get this straight. Im a white guy who doesn`t like "larty", JW`s, or stinky feet, thus does that make me a racist I ask? In the eyes of some I suppose that it would, and I can`t hold that against anyone. I will be the first person to admit that I am a racist but I try each second of each day to keep my views tame and my mouth restrained. I wish that I had the strength to view a man for whom he is or what he does and NOT for the color of his skin (or for the God which he chooses to worship, or whom he chooses to sleep with, or which funk he chooses to listen too); but punks like "MilesIsALive" push me further and further into my shell. It strikes me as sad when others claim to NOT be a racist; because deep down underneath the surface, each and everyone of us is one to some degree or another. As long as each of us are different then there will always be the proverbial "racism card" tossed into a conversation. And more and more often these days the "racism card" is used to provoke feelings of animosity or dischord amongst individuals. So again I ask does it make me a racist because I don't like a black man whom is a follower of a backwoods pagen religion? Of course not. There are those that would say so because of the facts I just stated. However would it matter if I said that I didn`t like the man because of his music, and because I feel that he is trying to influence Prince is a negative way??? Of course it wouldn`t matter because the nay-sayers would rather blindly accuse me (and those like me) of being a racist than to understand why I don`t like someone. So wouldn`t I be better off being labled a racist (which I freely admit that I am) because of what someone else thinks, and not because of what I believe. Is there a difference?

When in a situation like this I try to alter the facts and see what the outcome `might' be. Lets suppose that 'larty' is a white Christian trying to influence Prince. If that were the case then punks like "MilesIsAlive" would be posting threads accusing Prince of being league with the "white devil" or that Prince is a sell out because he is running with a white man and not a "brotha". You see some people have nothing better to do than to stir the pot just for the sake of stirring. But in the long run the only thing that they will accomplished is to push everyone further and further apart. Heck if you want racist maybe I should start a thread and call it "100 Racists Slang Terms of Africian Americans". I bet that "MilesIsAlive" would be the first person to post a "nickname" on my thread.

My issues with LG (if I cared enough anymore to have issues with him) would be that he's BORING (you can fall asleep during his oft-repeated solo), PUSHY (remember that Tavis Smiley interview - how many times did he wave the GCS 2000 CD in front of the camera), the way his wife is always sort of "submissive" to him, his influence on Prince (no cussin anymore for "Baby Brother") and more than anything else, that white suit of his (his personal hygiene must be horrid - he wears that thing so often).
