Sure sounds like it could be Prince. The guitar is no more intricate or plain than his contribution to Chaka's "Sticky Wicked" or Madonna's "Love Song". Plus he clearly calls out Prince and Femi.

Songs not incredible, but its better than much of what Stevie did in the last decade.

what's all the hype about Prince playing guitar on a Stevie song?

It already happend like a decade ago on "Cold chill" didn't it???

Ok, technically it was prince , but still. they did colaborate.

Actually, TECHNICALLY, Prince had nothing to do with the track. It was recorded at Paisley Park, but someone else is on guitar and that person is credited also. According to The Vault, Prince did not write or produce it, BUT did a remix of COLD CHILL. It is not on the album just on a promo, which would be nice to have. I've never heard it. Prince did record a guitar track, but it was not included on the album version by Stevie. Info taken from The Vault/Uptown.

That's saying a lot seeing as he hadn't released any new studio albums since 1995. lol

Hmm.... still trying to figure out more of these lyrics but can't.

2nd verse... after the restaurant part, it begins with "And if we live in a Democracy..."

All I can do right now!

OK, let me be more explicit: better than anything since "Hotter Than July". (Maybe with the exception of "These Three Words" and "Jungle Fever" on that soundtrack.)

it absolutely 100% begins with saying "prince, pop it", he definately says prince i'm sure.

princes job on this song is to play rhythm, and he does. it isn't the best thing ever, but then its rhythm guitar, and just cos its a guest thing people expect prince to be all over it, this is stevie wonder, he isn't going to even try overshadow one of his greatest mentors. its a pretty decent guitar part, it's nice to hear, its a pretty funky simple riff. its cool. i like it more the song progresses, plus, if you listen to the licks you can hear similarities between it and the clipped playing on illusion, coma... at least to me, so i'd definately says its prince.

It's definantely a Prince piece, or at the least he had alot 2 do with the music. The song sounds just like the music from the Jam of the year, just a bit slower. Have a listen and u will see what I mean.

It's Stevie. He did it often on some of his shows from the last couple of years with out the Prince contribution. He also did on Oprah last year.

Ok -

1st (and most important) I LOVE THIS SONG!

2nd (and most obvious) IS IT PRINCE 100%

4 those who could not tell - I'll I gots 2 say is U got a long way 2 go

If I just heard this song without the current hype (and 2 kel hype it indeed is...Stevie and Prince together - life long dream come true) I'd know it is Prince playing and in fact would go so far as to say the entire beat, bass, organ, pure funk, badd-ass hook is ...

The bassline is basically P Funk's "Knee Deep" slowed down. They were in fact influenced by Stevie. Both influenced Prince. Check the record Yeah!!

Well, wouldn't ya know? I was at a bar tonight and they had the local public radio station on and THEY PLAYED THIS SONG! It was funny because I was there with a friend of mine who was pouring out his heart to me about how much he loves his new girlfriend and when the song came on I was TOTALLY distracted and didn't hear a word he said until the song went off. I was sitting there nodding like I was paying attention and then I caught myself nodding in time to that FUNKY BEAT! Some friend I am lol lol

Donnie Simpson played the song during his morning radio show this morning. I like it, Prince involvement or not. Maybe it will get put into regular rotation and I won't have to hear Usher or 50 cent every 15 mins.

I love the synth bassline and the vocals are great, but the beat is too thin and stale I think. I wish he had used fatter drum samples or that he would have played live drums. I also was waiting for some kind of progression, but the groove as it is now is pleasant enough.

Prince's guitar bits are not very strong in my opinion, I think he could have done much better. It sounds like he just stepped in without ever hearing the track and just noodles around a bit with the first thing he came up with. I also think the guitar doesn't really fall into the mix, it stands out soundwise if you know what I mean.

It's nice to hear some new Stevie grooves, so don't take these comments as complaints, these are just my first thoughts when I heard the song. Cool song, I really like it, but I think a fatter mix would do this track more justice.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...
