1. Brother Nelson IS already married...2. Prince is a confident, sexy, intelligent, humourous, on & on...guy with PLENTY of masculinity. Makeup or no. 3. He hardly wears makeup any more, when he does, its understated, unless the lighting is bad. HE DONT NEED MAKE UP. I feel he looks much better now. 4. I would B proud 2 B seen with Prince ANYWHERE, ANYTIME, ANYPLACE. Bsides, HIS music and his inner sanctum is the true beauty of the man. The outer layer is a shell, that God will make into perfection in the NEW WORLD...4 all who follow him. cool I believe at home, in a relaxed state, he looks very handsome and feels very comfortable bcuz he DOESNT need front 4 anyone. Thats the real beauty of prince.

Beautifully put, sounds kind of like you know him pretty well, your a true poet.
And seem like you are in tune spiritually to. biggrin

Well I could never marry Alicia Keys because I wouldn't like to walk down the street with a dumb ass bitch with a can the size of Idaho! eek Of course who says Alicia Keys would even look at me. But, if she would.....

Comments like this remind me that people like Alicia Keys don't understand Prince fully. They may love the hits, but when it comes to the fact that he is who he is because he's detached from what we call the real world she'll never get it.

Well I would marry alicia and take that can the size of Idaho any day!!! razz razz

Alicia's comment goes to show how homophobic our society is. Gender roles are socially constructed in a way that anything considered "extreme" is not right and is a threat to your own identity. It's disguisting. However, I don't blame Alicia for how she feels about gender roles. I blame society.

Though , to defend Alicia, just because she finds somebody to be talented and loves their work, does that mean she has to find them physically or sexually attractive as well ? Prince just isn't her thing, which is cool. Attraction is not a rational thing.

I mean, I love Aretha Franklin's singing. I think she may have been one of the greatest Female singers (or singers, period) ever. But would I want to bang her? Naaahhh ....

While I think her comment does tip slightly homophobic, I think reactions on this board show more about how gender-biased our culture is. Men can play androgyny, be it camp Benny Hill or freaky-deaky rock stars, but god forbid a woman do it, and then -- gasp -- say the male version of it doesn't turn her on -- and suddenly she's a bitch, whore, carpetmuncher.

um, and how do you know her true self exactly? (see my peanut butter comment above.) I've seen her play both sides in her videos -- the hat and cane in whatever live show that was vs. her girlie Usher video. She's an artist, she's allowed to play around, that's what makes them interesting. You let Prince get away with his contradictions, and he said waaaay more homophobic shit about Wendy and Lisa.

this has nothing to do with power or authority..in all honesty these are two personality traits that i dont see in alicia keys....its in her mannerisms.....call the gaydar out cause all the family sees it.....

and to counter what someone else said, i have a friend who works at a soul restraunt in ny at the bar...alicia and her then girlfriend were regulars..right about before alicia busted out...

huh? not sure where that whole prince getting away with homophoic statements is coming from...you must not have been around during the black and purple days cause you wouldnt be posting that...lets not make up stuff to prove a point...I HATE THAT DEBATING TACTIC!! wink

back to alicia....once again, im not talking about the way she dresses....in not talking about her image..im talking about her mannerisms...my gaydar is off...and so have many others..... nothing deeper....and its a bit appearant by some of her statements that she is trying to "disprove" or "prove" something about her sexuality...it reeks of desperation..

wink

Hadn't heard that the P comment was just a rumor -- it was certainly reported a lot here about a year ago. But I'd be happy to take the know-nothing crown on that one! wink (although I am curious how he reconciles his faith with all that)

But, as you said, back to Alicia. Maybe I haven't heard enough interviews to sense the "desperation" as you call it. Frankly, I'm not really that interested in her interviews...I'm interested in her art. Well, at least some of it. And there's been very little that reeks of desperation to me there. I get more a sense of trying on images. Until she says something really, truly homphobic, I'm not going to call the gaydar-police on her.
