Thank you so much Noveau! I can't get to the video, because I can only use what I guess is a "restricted" installation of Windows at the university. No connection at home at the moment. Gotta eat this month, see.

i have a feeling this video wont get much airplay here in the U.S as soon as Prince started talking against MTV in his concerts they stopped playing his videos...MTV never added Call My Name and VH-1 played it for about 2 weeks and then when he made his comments stopped playing it all together...i hope im wrong tho!
Check it out ...Shiny Toy Guns R gonna blowup VERY soon and bring melody back to music..you heard it here 1st! http://www.myspacecomment...theone.mp3

Hahaa. I'm already 25, but I'm still at the process of downloading the flick, burning it to CD and running back home just to see it as soon as I can! I know I'd have to go pay some bills and shop for groceries but fuck it - I wanna see this video now.

Yeah, damn right I'm still a fan. Alright.

Let's hope indeed that this gets airplay because this is the first video he's made in a
very long time that is actually more than just a homevideo of him prancing about his
PP studio's in heavy make-up, holding lillies.

I hope he pulls the same kinda trick outta the bag for A Million Days. That's the European hit. nod

You know what? His current band is starting to feel like his first real band since The Revolution. It isn't just a group of musicians but a band.

That is so true... i feel the same. Well, the original NPG was also a proper band, but i just love this incarnation much more. Its a great great band. I hope he keeps it alive.

You know, I want to agree - but I can only half-way. The core of the band (Rhonda, John Blackwell, Renato Neto) do feel now like a permanent (and great) rhythm section. But the others still feel a bit like satellite figures who could move on at any point.

So half a great band, half a collection of very talented musicians. Still a great combination.

As for the video, pretty cool, I'm glad Prince had the guts to go with the 'controversial' nature of the song. Although, I thought the song was about innocent people of arabic skin tone being picked on and blamed for 9/11, that there is a dangerous perception that all 'arab' people (for want of a better word) are terrorists when of course they are not - but in this video she and her family ARE terrorists! Which goes against the song's message? Although I suppose that bit can be interpreted as a dream, people's perceptions force her to think of herself that way...

Whatever, I think the video helps make the song - just like A-Ha's did (they released that song 3 times before making the video and getting a hit!)

The question is now that we've seen it, what can we do to start a grassroots effort to get this video PLAYED so that others see it!!! I think we need to start emailing programmers the link to this vid.

It must not be ignored!!!

I really wonder if this will be played in the US... Too dark, perhaps, too critical???

But what a great artistic piece of work, great ideas in that video. Just love it.

Now, if Sony pushes the single, and Prince goes on talking reasonable stuff on interviews, who knows if this song or musicology goes off again...

RESPECT...

Yeah, that really struck me as well. As I am not an AOL member - what happens if you click on "Buy" for these?

Signs of anarchy at AOL, imo...

Or some Prince freak as editor who wanted to show off a bit... fro

I just love the video! WOW! Especially the ending. That small screen was aggravating though. neutral I doubt that it'll get much airplay here in the states if any at all since they'll probably deem it "anti-Bush"! wink

Without a doubt ... a great video,,however I predict the scene when the "Cinnamon Girl' blows herself up in the airport... will generate a buzzz, which mean Free publicity for this great song and video. Let's hope SONY does its job and promotes this GREAT artistic work in troubled times!!!!

Now, it may be a possibility. It may just be wishful thinking. But could it be, that this is the beginning of the Europe invasion? New single, great video, set the stage for a European tour?

Could it? Could it?

I dont really see the benefit of releasing a single aimed purely at the US now that the tour has ended.... Could we be seeing the man on European soil after a two month break?

nevermind, i got it to work...my thoughts:

-- the hohner's in it.

-- i really like the way it was done, very clever; actually, this would be even better if it were in an animated format. nod

-- prince, go wash off your forehead! eek i wonder if any of the more overzealous fammy-types will go along and draw that stylized "5:5" on their foreheads, too.

-- the hohner's in it.

-- the little daydream scenario towards the end (the suicide bomber bit) was sorta poignant, but it ain't really controversial, imo.

...all in all, i give it a thumbs-up. unfortunately, emptee-vee probably won't play it more than a couple times before castin it into video hell.

...did i mention that THE HOHNER'S IN IT? biggrin

wow....everyone (so far) likes the video....who'dathunkit?

metalorange....I don't think her family were terrorists....it appeared to me that they were just shop owners, who were being attacked and accused of being terrorists so they were changing their store name to "UNITED" instead of the arabic word it was. (I wonder what it was? maybe it was "UNITED")
and they were stuggling with their daughters "american" ways...clothes and such...I think she felt torn...and thought of doing something drastic...almost carried it out but realized it was not the way...that she would indeed become what her family was being accused of.....
hmm...I gotta watch it again though...do you think her parents when they were in her room yelling at her were telling her to do that? ohh...I hope not...gotta go watch it again.
"not a fan" falloff yeah...ok

hehehe...they probably wrote somethin a bit more salacious first, then they were like "nah...better put somethin biblical on there before he wakes up...nobody mention this, ever!" shhh

Great video for a change. Ive always had a sense that P videos were always on the cheap side. By and large they were always done on the soundstage at PP. And they always had the same kind of vibe and scenario which I found quite dull... I remember the Come On vid from NPS, that was different although very cheap...

This vid seems like a fair few $'s have gone into it. So Musicology certainly isnt a dead duck financially I reckon....

I still think this is a build up to a European tour... I truly hope so....
