just so y'all know....don't expect a performance or get pissed if he doesn't perform....which is what happened in New York.....do expect to bump into band members and see a few famous people.....in New York, I saw Chris Rock, Jay Z, Puff Daddy, Lenny Kravitz and Sheila E.....they might even show the taped footage of that night's concert!

i'll definitely be at the friday night party, hopefully with my usual partner-in-crime smile

i'm debating whether or not to show up for the thursday night party. i'm not going to thursday night's show, but i work nights right down the road from excalibur, and i get off work right when the party starts...i'd hate to show up in work drag, but maybe i can do a sydney bristow ALIAS quick change where i can slip into the bathroom as a german librarian with crayon red hair, and slip out 30 seconds later as a goth flight attendant with purple braids. If enough Org/NPGMC/Berlin folks are going to the thursday bash, i'll have no choice but to go!

three parties and three concerts next weekend. huzzah! dancing jig

Oh, Thank God there's no "afterparty" on Saturday - that's the only show I'm going to, and I'm travelling from out of state, so now I don't have to worry about not going and missing a possible surprise performance.

eh...i dunno. afterparties are fun and all but i'd rather go somewhere close to home. after travelling all the way up to rosemont for the show, i don't think i'll be interested in travelling somewhere else for a party that he probably won't even be at. thoughl, it would be nice to see some of my favorite orgers!

The only one I would go to would be the Friday party, but I'm not planning on it. I'm just planning on going to the Friday show and the Sunday party at Berlin.

If someone feels strongly compelled to convince me otherwise, I'm open to prodding...

sad I would NOT pay $25 a person, go to Excalibur and be smashed in like Cattle (which is what has happened EVERY time we have been there for aftershows..... if I did not know FOR SURE that Prince was gonig to play.
that place is TOO Small and they stuff way to many inside it..... eek(
We have went 3 times and each time they said "AFTER SHOW" so we knew he was going to play.. but the one time we got there at 11:45 and stood packed in so tight until 2 a.m. and he finally came on stage..... did 3 songs and left.
This one very tall guy was next to me and trying to dance in a Sardine Can..
He kept hitting my head and my ribs.. I actually had bruises.
I was sweating like a Pig..
And I am confussed..... WHY are we paying $25 per ticket to stand and sweat and be packed in?????"
NO thanks... I will be at the 3 Chicago shows in July and the 1 in August.....
So that will have to be enough.....
(((Plus the All State Arena is a bit away from Excalibur.....)))) NO THANKS!! confused sad mad confused eek neutral sad sad sad

Hey, Orion. biggrin I was at the Excalibur that night you are talking about and yes we were packed in like cattle. Plus, I'm only five three, and stood on my tippy toes to be able to see Prince on stage. Yeah, I was kind of pissed off that he only did like three songs, but that was the first time I had ever saw him in person and I cried like a baby anyway. My Excalibur plan is to go up in the balcony somewhere and stay there. I'll have a great view if he decides to play and I won't have to packed in on the dancefloor getting felt up like last time. Excalibur is a shitty venue. I was hoping fo Metro, Park West or HOB. Nonetheless, I will be there on Friday night.

Well, I ordered tickets for both nights even though I don't plan on staying at Thursday's gig for more than 15 minutes...a little thing called work. But, Friday, I have to party until the sun comes up.

When Prince did his aftershow at Excalibur, the room was too packed for me to enter so I sat in the basement eating fish and chips and watched the performance on a monitor. That was good enough for me.

See you purpleheads on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at Berlin.

wink Well then you know what I'm talking about confused
Are you going to the show on Friday night?????
that is a problem too.. since I WILL be at the show on Friday I figure by the time the show is over with, we get to our car and fight that mess in the Parking lot... neutral and then drive through the traffic to the Excalibur all the good "seeing" area's will be filled, or there will be a HUGE line to get in the door..... neutral
If you were not going to the show at the All State Arena it might not be too bad..... you could just book to the Excalibur..... But I would rather have tickets to the actual concert..
I am a bit confused too... If they say he probably WON'T perform.. why do you have to pay $25 to get in?????
Any one know?????

Peace~

i'm hoping that since i get off work at midnite thursday and will be trucking it over to excalibur from the loop, i'll be able to beat most of the allstate crowd that night (so when y'all show up, the guy leaning back at the bar with a martini and the "what took ya so long" grin would be me lol )...friday i'll be in the middle of the madness like everyone else, but at least i'll be in good company! biggrin

Peace~[/quote]I'm not parking at Allstate. I got a little hookup somewhere close by. The show will probably be over by 11:00 so that gives me about 45 minutes to get back downtown where I can park at my job and cab it back to Excalibur and since I am a clubmember, my name's on the list and I'll get in quicker than non-clubmembers. Yes, I am going to that night's show but if P isn't going to be performing, it won't matter where I'll be. If he doesn't play, it'll still be worth the 25 bucks to hang out with the coolest Princefans on the planet.

stoopid question perhaps, but if i *DO* manage to beat the masses thursday night, is there a a particular part of excalibur that's "prime real estate" for me to sit/stand at? i've never been in this club in my life.

Damn, you're not coming to the concerts or the afterparties? sad I will see you Berlin then.

For anyone else coming to the concert or afterparty, look for me. I look just like my avvie and I'll be wearing this long flowing sleeveless pale green dress with flowers. I have a really short haircut. Lawdy! Prince got me doing the girly thing. eek If you're not sure you want to come to the afterparty or to Berlin on Sunday cuz you don't know anyone, orgnote me and I'll be sure to make anyone feel comfortable. I want to hang out with as many peeps as possible. biggrin

No...I AM going to a concert, but not all of them. I'm only going to be at Friday night's show. And this time, I really want to meet some of you at the show.

Is there some place we could meet? Like stand in one of those big areas outside the washrooms between gates whatever and whatever?

Somebody figure something out! Let me know!

just got back from the second afterparty - prince and the band were in the house, and i had a close encounter of the purple kind as he and the NPG marched right past TOFKA and me. compliments were paid, "thank yous" were dealt, faces did this: eek

...otherwise, i gotta say, the parties tonight and last night were kind of a bust in my opinion. if i would have known there would have been an aftershow scheduled in addition to two afterparties with no performances, i would have skipped the parties and gone right to the aftershow, then got my paisley ya-yas out the following night at berlin's monthly prince party. as it is, i basically paid 25 bucks to go to a bar that i'm not crazy about, pay way too much for drinks, get accosted every 30 seconds by people soliciting everything from glow in the dark shots to caricatures (?!), and attempt to dance to music via an aggressively mediocre DJ (after this week, i'm never EVER nitpicking about samnation's spinning at berlin - EVAH!)...bleh!

so i got a couple of glimpses of prince - that was exciting, but eh...not the kind of thing i pay twennyfive bucks for. i got to dance with the lovely and talented miss lace for a bit, though i'm sure we'll be feelin' it more at the party sunday night.

as for the aftershow tomorrow night....now THAT will be exciting. dancing jig
