The millon dollar question: Will he perform? Has he ever thrown an after party and not performed? The release party at Webster Hall had a psuedo performance and then a "dance party."

There was a thread weeks ago and I believe a PP moderator stated that:
Afterparty = no performance by band Aftershow = somewhat guaranteed that NPG would jam But as always, who knows.....

the one in dallas was called an after party and he showed up and played so who knows? We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou

Moby was in the audience. He walked right past me when he left the show early. I'm also going back for three nights in September to see The Creatures.

Prince almost always does an aftershow in NYC. My bet is he'll do one.

"Info can change at any time" New found spirituality and happiness or not- this guy still refuses to give straight answers, huh? "It's not easy having a good time..... even smiling makes my face ache."

Tickets at $25 each, a limit of two per member, and Ticketmaster being used to sell tickets to the general public? I'll bet dollars to donuts that these afterparties will have "surprise" performances.
As I recall, something similar happened after Prince's Oprah appearance in 1996. An "afterparty" at a Chicago nightclub was announced, and advance tickets were sold at a rather high price for a mere party. The official word was that Prince would not perform, but not surprisingly, those who attended were treated to a performance. Disclaimer: I'm just speculating here. So if you buy a ticket and there's no performance, don't get upset with me. Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Great news! Here I am on holiday from the UK, sitting in a Times Square internet cafe, and it only turns out that this BBKings place is literally across the road!!!
I wasn't expecting to be over here so soon, and only got an NPGMC ticket for his Long Island show next week. But hopefully he'll take the stage for a few numbers tonight. And if not, hopefully it'll still be an experience. You can still get tickets at the venue - $26 each - for tonight. Any other Org-ers going?

Ok, then that PP moderator was stupid because when I saw P at the ONA AFTERPARTY in NYC at the club WORLD...him and the band jammed...oh boy, did they jam... Prince and crew might use the terms that way when announcing events, but an event that's announced as a mere "afterparty" might have a surprise performance. From a "historical" perspective, an after-concert event with its own performance is an "aftershow," regardless of how it was announced. BTW, here's a tip for those attending other concerts on the Musicology tour: When an "afterparty" is announced, ask yourself (or others) whether the location is one that's set up for live music. If the answer is no (e.g., a dance club), then forget about a surprise performance. However, even if the location can handle live music, there's still no guarantee that the "afterparty" will become an "aftershow." FWIW, I've been to one aftershow (Indianapolis 2002), and at the end of the main concert it was announced as an aftershow. I didn't go to the afterparty last night and apparently Prince didn't either.
According to the NY post: "Prince, Isaac Hayes and Damon Dash were among the guests set to join Broadway's best to celebrate "Aida" star Deborah Cox's birthday last night at Plaid." Unless he made a fleeting appearance at BB's? Let the rain come down...17 days....

me thinks tonight may be the special night at BB KINGS ... See, now that's my feeling. His only day off this week is tomorrow, and Sheila E. will be at the Garden tonight. That's why I only purchased tickets for tonight.
