Australian review of The Vault from HIT magazine, Thursday, 2 September, page 52:
The verdict: 2/5 stars In a word: mouldy There's usually a reason why songs remain unreleased. Here's 10. The Vault features songs recorded between 1985 and 1994 but never aired. That was when Prince had a name and a clue. Thrown together, they sound like reheated leftovers. Several tracks come from an aborted musical and should have been left in a vault. Only the epic "There is Lonely" sounds fit to use the name Prince. Most of his fans - if there are any left, considering he recently tried to sue a fanzine - would already have this on bootleg. Still, it's better than a new album by TAFKAP. | |
