I read where Prince added the s on to Rogers because he thought it sounded better.
I also read when his father was married to his first wife they had a son named johnny. Did anyone else read this? I think it was in Purple Reign, but not sure. These would all be half brothers and sisters, except for tyka. I hope those poor children with the name sir and president have normal nick names.

I just wanted to offer my sincere coldolances to any and all who are mourning the death of a loved one, especially to Prince regarding his mother.
I also wanted to offer a few words of comfort. Remember Jesus' words at Matthew 5:4 that says "Happy are those who mourn, since they will be comforted." We all feel the loss of ones close to us as death for humans is unnatural and totally against our makeup. So we mourn that loss. The apostle Paul had some good advice, though. At 1 Thes. 4:13 he advised: "We do not want you to be ignorant concerning those who are sleeping [in death]; that you may not sorrow just as the rest also do who have no hope." What hope do we have? What was the reason for those mouring to be happy about? How would we be comforted? By firstly knowing about the hope that is promised then, ultimately, when that hope is realized. Jesus spoke of this at John 5:28,29: "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out." Paul reiterated this at Acts 24:15 when he assured us: "There is going to be a resurrection of the righteous and the unrighteous." So we can all be comforted now by considering these assurances that God, who cannot lie, promises us. And in our grand future prospect, we will see the fulfillment of God's will. The last enemy, death, will be swallowed up. Sickness and sorrow will be things of the past. God's Kingdom will bring these things to be and we all have the opportunity to see the fulfillment of Rev. 21:1-5 when the righteous inhabitants of our home, the earth, will be restored to our purposed condition. All we have to do is submit to Jesus' just rulership as appointed king of God's Kingdom. Soon the reality of his rule will be felt here as we are finally rid of the corrupt human rulers who divide and opress us and we no longer have to read obituaries like this one.

Such a shame for Prince to lose both his parents within six months. I emailed NPGMC to let Prince know that I'm sorry, even if he never reads my email.
Peace... hope everyone likes my avatar... Pharaoh4TheMuse

I have some news that I'd like to report. I heard from a friend in LA that Mayte was contacted by Prince to attend his mothers funeral. I also heard that she declined because he reportedly asked that she did not bring Tommy Lee. Now, I was told when Prince and Mayte got married that his mother was not all that fond of Mayte, but was asked by Prince to accept her.
Also, I could have sworn I read somewhere that Alfred had died....like ten years ago. Just thought I'd share Smooches;) Smooches;)

Well, when a person is in love they don't listen to warnings from their parents. Perhaps Prince's mother saw something in Mayte that she didn't like.

Prince and family-
My deepest condolences to you in this time of loss. Also, it is a time to celebrate her new life as well. I did not know her, but I'm sure she was a great woman, and from what I have read, she was full of love and compassion. My mother is also a school system social worker in Columbus, Ohio, and I know that it takes a special person to do the work that they do. I know that she gave birth to a son that has been an inspiration to me and my wife. Thank U, Jason Dodson
