No,an album has to sell 500,000 copies to be certified gold.Somehow,I doubt that TRC will sell that amount.

You never know, Davideye! It seems to be a slow burner. With its popularity in Japan (I'm assuming the CD is available to them), they could push the numbers up quite a bit. Last December is like #1 over there....wild huh....

Eye don't think it's so much what an album sales as much as it is the impact the album has.

Blame the media all you want, but stuff can sell on it's own,you know. I think I'd give more credit to people about their music tastes. You just gotta know who is buying and why and the whole soundscan deal. My reasons?
Catchy music sells good. ROck, pop, rap, ,whatever. If it's catchy it will sell. It doesn't have to be the greatest music ever sold, but catchy sells. Did anyone complain when "When Doves Cry?" sold? No. It was catchy. How about "U got the Look?" it's catchy. and I hate that f'n song. It's probably one of the worst songs made by him.
Cloreen Baconskin is better than that.
Right now, Creed is number 1, and I don't think it's just a "media" thing. WE are the media. It's part us, and part scam, I think. It's a catchy rock thang. I believe 100k is a far better number than expected when u look at the facts. Everyone knows "he don't play like he used 2, ol' scraggly head".
He does his own thing with no one else and pretty much made a jazz and God album that actually sounded GOOD.You, as in the American public, know you ain't gettin' Raspberry Beret when you buy a Prince album now. But, THANKS TO THE MEDIA ACTUALLY REVIEWING THINGS CORRECTLY, you are gonna get quality music, whether it's Raspberry Beret or Digital Garden.
I think Prince , if he really really wanted to, could put out that one song that gets his new message out to people AND retains quality. A catchy, quality song with a message that a lot of people can agree with. Will it sell? Ask Creed. I don't agree with all their "god lyrics" either, but they are on to something.
