[Translation of TRC review from 'Johnny'... thanks! -Ben]

The rainbow children
released december 2001 (NPG records/ import)

Frozen as in a wax museum, the immensity of Prince's talent seemed 2 definately belong to the trinkets from the eighties.

Until this Rainbow children witnessing an artistic fever that the denominated hadn't reached since "sign of the times".

Released almost incognito at the end of last year, this flamboyant album answers our queries- at times excessive - in a clever and humble manner.

For the 1st time since a long time, Prince renounced battling against the latest trends, leaving to Timbaland the rythmical innovations and rap to the real MC's.

In a fresher paradoxe, the rainbow children still waters the traditional sources of black music : eternal breath of gospel, transpiring funk or emotional power of the blues.

Here Prince transforms his neurotic obsessions in search of the truth.

More than a rebirth, one witnesses the advent of a sereine composer, detached from the FM contingencies and solely preocupied with his own pleasure.
