Prince vs. Michael?

ESPN just can't take the high road and let Prince be a private citizen when he shows up at a Timberwolves game. Prince and presumably the Mrs. turned out for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day matchup between Kevin Garnett and Michael Jordan. After running a clip of the Princes' smoochin', ESPN's Linda Cohn read from a tale-of-the-tape graphic about Mike and Prince. Height: 6-6 . . . 5-2. Accessories: 6 rings . . . Raspberry Beret. Critics panned: Baseball . . . " . . . Cherry Moon." Sidekick: Scottie Pippen . . . Morris Day. Nemesis: Jerry Krause . . . Michael Jackson. That last one's a bit of trivia, as I recall Symbolina telling Oprah he turned down a role in the "Bad" video because he couldn't imagine being the person to whom Jacko said, "Your butt is mine."

By contrast to ESPN's poor self-control, Melinda Jacobs showed her cool by not having much to say about twice sitting next to Prince and the presumed Mrs. at Wolves games. Jacobs said she was minding her own biz and not bothering Prince.

"What is so hard to understand about that?" she said. For one thing, I seem to remember Melinda having a gig where she gossips for a radio station.

"No. I do it once in a while but pretty rarely." Used to go on the radio and gossip about celebrities, right?

"Yeah, I did," she said. So she's got Prince and his current life partner sitting right there and she has no gossip for me? "I know. Sorry, I'm a changed woman," she said.

Back to not talking about Prince . . . "It's just that my new job is going to require me to keep my mouth shut," she said. That noted, Melinda finally acknowledged that, "Yes, he [Prince] wears makeup" while the latest Mrs. appeared to wear no makeup. "His wife is lovely, one of the most beautiful women I've ever seen, and I've seen a lot of women," said Melinda. Prince has always known a beautiful woman when he sees one (e.g., Mayte, Apollonia, Vanity, Carmen Electra.) Robin Wolfram, who requested that I go easy on her inconsistent chum Melinda, shared the Prince sighting with Melinda. "He has a beautiful wife. Gorgeous. I tried to respect his privacy. Would I love to talk to him? Absolutely. He had that big bodyguard there. People would walk by him and say, That was Prince!" How was the Mrs.' hardware? "She had a beautiful ring on her hand," said Wolfram. "Yes, it was bigger than Amelia's. They were very relaxed." What was he wearing on his head at the Lakers game? "I didn't get a good look at him, but it looked like a white scarf, hat, mitten set," she said.
