Toronto Vault review

Now Magazine, Toronto

Heading "Prince Rubbish Found in Vault!"

Rating: N=Terrible

"Randy Newman once insightfully remarked that while Prince shows flashes of musical genius, he doesn't seem to know his good songs from his bad. That could be true, but at least the Artist can tell his bad tunes from his throwaways - 10 of which his former label has saved from the trash and released on The Vault. These are not the missing tunes from a lost masterpiece. The majority of them seem unresolved, under-two-minute frangments or meandering vamps overlayed with half-formed lyrical ideas or just a repeated phrase. There's always potential for hilarity when our man gets the urge to rap, and My Little Pill, even at just over a minute, doesn't disappoint. Strictly for completists"
