Hornheadz Do Kid's Music

Look what the Hornheads are doing these days:

Music Workshop for Kids, ''Hello on the Go'' (Baby Music Boom)

The fourth CD by this Twin Cities collective aims to please both children and adults, which ain't -- oops, isn't -- easy. Some of the tunes targeted at kids seem awkwardly dumbed-down. But the adult-friendly numbers work more effectively. Tab Laven's ''Cranberry Red Balloon'' has a nice Simon & Garfunkel feel with innocent lyrics. The funky ''Wipe Wash Flush and Brush'' is a bathroom routine that both parents and kids can relate to -- in content and in sound. The Hornheads, Prince's former horn section, do a cool instrumental treatment of ''Pop Goes the Weasel.'' Young Miles Nelson narrates ''My Dad (and Me),'' the tale of a special relationship (written by his dad, Scooter Nelson) that would make any parent proud. Despite its unevenness, the hourlong ''Hello on the Go'' would make an entertaining soundtrack for a family drive to Grandma and Grandpa's. 7014
