Prince's show at the Memorial Auditorium on May 6 felt like a bona-fide event, rather than a mere concert. With Prince announcing the gig on just a few days' notice, local music fans went into a tizzy to score tickets -- and all 4,400 were gone in under an hour -- while some waited in line for 12 hours to get a choice view at the general admission show. Musically, the Purple One was electrifying. Prince and his New Power Generation took a turbo-charged tour through his greatest hits, including a mesmerizing version of "The Beautiful Ones" and a guitar-hero workout in "Let's Go Crazy." Call it a command performance for Prince's purple reign.
