Review of Prince websites in Record Collector (UK)

The latest edition of UK-based magazine, Record Collector (January 2002, No 269, page 148), carries a 2 page article on Prince websites in the regular 'Screen Gems' section. Entitled 'Purple Domain' and written by Cliff McLenehan, it reviews the sites briefly, and provides a list of the URLs for the 23 sites mentioned (including those for Wendy and Lisa, Sheila E and Mayte).

As far as the web site facts go, it is reasonably accurate, although refers to Prince as TAFKAP at one point, (and is already slightly out of date given the relaunch of Mayte's site).

The official NPGMC site gets top billing, but reference is also made to the 'cease and desist letters' episode at which point prince.org's relation of the story (http://www.prince.org/lawsuits/)is quoted as recommended reading along with the FAQ section (http://www.prince.org/faq/ - currently in course of revision for the next version of prince.org) and the Links section (http://www.prince.org/links/)- which, it is acknowledged, is much more thorough than the scope of the article itself.

Other commendations go to (amongst others) the DTT and Uptown sites (with passing praise for Uptown's 'excellent fanzine' and 'the two superb books they have produced'.

Three black and white photographs of Prince (all seen before), and one of Mayte are included.
