Another UK review LONDON EVENEING STANDARD REVIEWS THE VAULT
Friday 20th August, London Evening Standard Record Reviews (Alison Roberts, Chris Burkham, Zoe Williams & Peter Clark): "Prince - The Vault (Warner Bros.) These are the off-cuts if you like - unheard tracks written and recorded The Artist Formerly Known as Prince still called himself Prince. Jolly exciting in theory. Given a choice between Prince's ARound The World IN A Day (1985) say, or The Artist's New Power Soul (1998), you'd pick the earlier album every time. Shame, then, that this is so disappointing. It's Prince lite, or Prince jazz - not a single memorable tune and not a whisper of the man's once-formidable talent. For hard-core fans (if they still exist)." | |
