Kevin Smith: When Doves Cry Kevin Smith Thinks Morris Day is "Ok with himself"
In the new issue of Blender magazine, Kevin Smith shares his thoughts on Prince. Here's the relevant text: The 31 year old also recently parlayed his status as the world's raunchiest Catholic filmmaker into an audience with Prince at his Paisley Park compound earlier this year. It turns out the funky Jehovahs Witness is a fan of Smith's religious satire, Dogma. So, what does it sound like when doves cry? "It sounds something like 'Let me out of here. This guy's weird.'" He also lists The Time's Ice Cream Castles as one of his ten favorite albums and has this to say: "This has Jungle Love and The Bird as well as Ice Cream Castles, which is a really strange song. Almost every Time song is about how much Morris Day loves himself. You think that he might only sing about these things because he can't feel that way in real life, but I met Morris Day and he seemed pretty healthy and ok with himself." [That is freakin' hilarious. I SOOO dig Kevin Smith. If he ever happens to read prince.org and catch any of my comments, and needs a gopher/lackey/groveler on the set of his next movie, give me a call, I'm there. -Ben] | |
