VH1 80s Show w/Prince References

VCR ALERT

From TV Guide.com

VH1 Presents the '80s
Rock in the Video Age
60 min.
Debut: This five-part series recalls a decade in which enormous changes swept the music world.
The birth of MTV created a powerful ally for artists with a knack for reaching fans with visual images---and many seized video as their medium. In the opener, which looks at rock and pop in the video era, Billy Idol says, "Prince, Madonna, Billy Idol. It looked as if we had all been created for MTV." But beyond appearances, there were good songs. Some heard in this first episode are "She's a Beauty" by the Tubes and "Open Arms" by Journey. Subsequent episodes examine heavy metal, New Wave and alternative, hip-hop and R&B, and music and politics.

Sunday, 4 10:00 PM

If they DO show Prince, this will definitely settle whether Prince was cut from the Quincy Jones produced specials on purpose by Quincy.
If they do NOT show him, we'll assume it is either VH1-bias or Prince is forbidding use of his image....

Rock in the Video Age

This 5-part series DID mention Prince (so we now know it was a "Quincy Jones as producer and Prince-hater"-thing we are dealing with on the VH1 History of Black Music documentary wink.

The 4th segment of the series (R&B in the 80s) specifically profiled Prince. Set your VCRs for the first 15 minutes of the show. The Prince segmented is followed by Sheila E. commenting on Lionel Ritchie.

Prince has also been mentioned and shown briefly through out the series - even in part 3 - which focused on Alt. Rock/New Wave!

This series (as with ALL VH1/MTV productions) will be rerun several times, including this weekend. Check TVGuide.com for specific info.
