Prince-related April Fool's joke in Glasgow newspaper

The following article appeared in the Glasgow newspaper the "Evening Times" on April 1st.
No doubt you will spot that club Aloof is an anagram of "a fool" and the L.A. design company Pilar is an anagram of "April". The paper reported next day that they had been "inundated with 'phone calls" in response to the article. What kind of 'phone calls they didn't say wink

The Artist formerly known as Prince is set to open his own club - right in the heart of Glasgow's Merchant City.

In a bizarre move in on the city's clubland, we can reveal exclusively that the Great Purple One has made plans to purchase one of the properties in the city's King Street after a chat with his close friend, and singing partner Sheena Easton.

It was reported today that the Bellshill Belter has advised TAFkaP to buy the old warehouse in order to help her rebuild broken ties with Scotland and plans are now underway for the multi--million pound development to be completed by December.

Aloof, as it will be known will be decked out in purple (What else!) and will house a throne room, bar and dance floor with a planned capacity of 400.

It will be exclusive to devotees of TAFkaP, who can answer questions of trivia about the diminutive superstar, and it will join other prized properties including the new Rank Leisure complex and Hard Rock Cafe proposed for that area.

Today a spokesman for the PR company who are handling press for the club commented: "This is a first. TAFkaP has never before gone on to street level where the masses are, but after a conversation with Sheena, he is keen to show that he is capable of it.

"He, quite literally, wants to party like it's 1999."

TAFkaP also plans to build a pre-club in Paisley called Dove - presumably after the Prince song When Doves Cry.

An insider at Los Angeles-based Pilar Designs, who have won the contract for the job, revealed: "Dove staff will wear purple Paisley patterned suits and serve blackcurrant drinks.

"TAFkaP is very keen that his much loved imagery be portrayed throughout the project."

It is believed the artist visited Paisley during his last concert tour with then girlfriend MayTe and fans may recall seeing a white stretch limo in the area at the time.

TAFkaP was unavailable for further comment but one thing can be sure, if the Purple One does come to Scotland he will get lots of purple rain.
