L.A. based Prince fan club: "Pop Life in Los Angeles" review of The Rainbow Children
Definitely the best Prince album in years! Maybe ever...An instant classic! Gotta have it! Seriously, though, I was blown away by it! Initially, prior to hearing the album, I wasn't looking forward to it-- advance word from the Celebration listening sessions were mixed. But man, I couldn't believe what I was hearing when I did finally listened to it. I was in for a major surprise and a surreal experience. This album is definitely along the vein of ATWIAD, Lovesexy, Graffiti Bridge in its "spirituality." But this is Prince at his most spiritual and boldest declaration ever of his beliefs--- and I love him for that! This album will definitely go down in history as one of the greatest albums ever-- to rival The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's album. It's amazing! I'm still reeling from it... still very much on high... it definitely went beyond my expectations. Musically and lyrically (whether you agree with him or not), it's Prince at his most creative..narrative and innovative... yet intensely personal. It's beyond words... The man is back... in a big way!!!
