After Grammy show @ the HOB

{{{[This is the post-Grammy show review from TrendyFlip... -Ben]
... I've lost count on how many times I've seen his purple badness, and he's definitely still the man! He rocked the show once again last night, amazing!... Here are some detail:}}}

Thanks to NPGMC, we were the first line let in...
Show started round 12:30, and lasted til 3am.
Wearing a very stylish white suit, with a red coat.
Similar set to Las Vegas show.. some of the songs i can remember at this time (not in any particular order):

Shhh.
DMSR
Beautiful Ones
Controversy
Question of U
Kiss
America
Purple Rain
Sign of Times
Take me with U
U Got the Look
Nothing Compares to U
Let's Work
I Feel 4 U

Prince funkin' on the bass guitar with a broken string on the last jam, hahahaha (No Diggity!)

Guests on stage:
Angie Stone
Macy Gray
Nikka Costa (although didn't get a chance to sing)

Spotted: Puff sneakin' out at the end of the show with supermodel Naomi?? (or a prototype.. hehehehe)

Man, u would think that after being around so many famous ppl that he would have some of them on stage. Don't get me wrong, these women r great but let's mix it up a bit. Never the less, I'm sure it was a hot show! The 2nd show in Vegas last weekened was hella phat. The set list was pretty much the same as yesterdayz performance. The HOB in Vegas held 1800 ppl and the L A HOB holds 1000 ppl. So u no it was nice view 4 everybody. NOw, when is the tour? I'm in need of a soundcheck!!!

I had the priviledge to attend this show last night and thought it was exactly what the audience wanted... PRINCE and only PRINCE. It was nice to see his duet with Beyonce earlier in the evening, but I think more than anything fans want to see the man, the legend, himself with his band, not a bunch of other artists doing Prince, but him doing his own music. The other guest that no one mentioned was Maceo Parker on horns who did a fabulous job. The concert was just brilliant. Prince was full of energy, talking to the crowd a bit and having a good time himself. I'm still at awe today and probably will be for a long time to come. He is a musical genius and I am forever grateful I got to attend this rarity at the House of Blues.

Who remembers...
"Somethings funky, baby...
Is it your breath or mine?

I had the regular chips,
You had them other kind!"

SHow was fat...
Also the funkiest version of I Feel 4U I have ever heard, it was a blend of his 70's version's falsetto with Chaka Kahns more uptempo 80's version.
Bad!
thumbs up!
I wish u heaven

This was yet another great show...I'll coment on the particulars later but what a surreal moment 24 hours for me...I fly out of Honolulu at 1:30 on Sunday, attend a Grammy night concert/jam from midnight to 3 with Prince, have breakfast with other Purple Friends in town, get on a plane at 8 a.m., land at 1140 and by 1230 I'm in my Air Force uniform with no one having a clue what the last 23 hours were like...What a night! Thank U Prince and the NPG--Aloha~

Man, I waited outside for 2 hours before finally getting in during DMSR and man, it was cooking. The House of Blues was rocking. Supposedly Mick Jagger and Steven Tyler were there but when Prince is ON, no else was needed. Angie Stone was cool and I couldn't hear Macy Gray that well. So that was Nikki Costa, I thought it was the Mexican diva, Paulina Rubio on stage. Who was the female keyboard player? It was great to hear "Sign 'O the Times" and "Beautiful Ones". "Soul Man" was cool and appropiate at the House of Blues. By half past two, people were looking at their watches but they were hanging in there. The night ended with "The Ride" and it was a beautiful night in Los Angeles. When it boils down to who rocks the most and best, no one is even in Prince's league. It was his house last night.

PRINCE, THANK YOU FOR GIVING ME A GREAT 49TH BIRTHDAY GIFT ON FEB 9.

Feb 9 was the 33 anniversary of the San Fernando earthquake and you registered a 1999 on the Housequake scale at the H OF B.

The first time I saw u u got booed of the stage at the Stones show in 1981 at the Coliseum and next month the Hall of Fame should make the 91,000 mean fans who booed u see how they belong in the Hall of Shame.

U may not care to win awards but they're giving u the biggest honor in the music biz next month.

I know u don't celebrate birthdays anymore, but keep the party going everlasting.

Thank U

DMSR
