The BIG come back year? > Star Tribune! {{{source: http://www.startribune.co...72178.html
Jon Bream, Star Tribune Published February 15, 2004 (This is an excerpt from an article about the Grammys - Marika) Partying with Prince The hottest Grammy afterparty was Prince's midnight concert at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip. Tickets sold out in 48 seconds, leaving only a few for celebs (Sean Lennon pined for one backstage at the Grammys). Prince partied till nearly 3 a.m., playing what the L.A. Times called a "fiery, wide-ranging" set of hits and obscurities. He was joined by Angie Stone and Macy Gray. At one point, he told the 1,000 folks: "Grammy don't mean nothin' to me. I know what I'm singing!" There's been no official word on Prince's plans for what is shaping up as a big comeback year. He will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 15 in New York. Word is that Clear Channel Entertainment has hired him to do a greatest-hits tour this summer. Members of his old group, the Revolution, have taped interviews for a 20th-anniversary DVD of "Purple Rain." Will Warner Bros. also re-release that landmark soundtrack? "I don't know," label chief Jeff Ayeroff said when approached at a Rock the Vote party in Hollywood honoring P. Diddy and the Dixie Chicks. "I did get along with Prince; I'm not from that [Warners] regime" with whom the Purple One feuded.}}}

lol... as I scan the fares to MPLS, all I can say is that if homie plans to have a big comeback, this might be the last real chance he gets before being ushered into the old-folks home in terms of pop-relevance. I wonder if he'll shoot for it, b/c it will require some concessions that he hasn't made in a while. then again he accepted the grammy gig as Janet Jackson's LESS CONTROVERSIAL replacement a sure sign of the apocalypse ... ********************************************

Hmmm... here's my question; what will constitute Prince's comeback: 1) the re-issue of Purple Rain (if WB is smart they will include all the correlated soundtracks Apollonia 6, The Time, the Group who sings Modenaire, and of course Purple Rain (enedited perferably) or 2) Prince's new album on its own merit? _________________________________________

If a comeback means a return to the dribble that was "Diamonds & Pearls" Id rather not go there...Please save all of us that love Priince for what he has done for the art since then from such an atrocity.
