Commentary on Paisley Listening Party

For those of you who attended or did not attend the Prince "alleged special listening session of the new album from Prince, The Rainbow Children" -- for those who did not attend you did not miss anything. After paying your $7.00 admission fee, being herded into the NPG Music Room/the sound stage areas to stare at a video screen which repeatedly played excerpts from the Sign of Times movie, the group was gathered around the prepared concert stage in much anticipation of a performance from Prince. However, after waiting over 90 minutes the much awaited "The Rainbow Children" album which was played over the speaker system with no introduction, explanation, lyric books, etc. However, if you represented the media you got the Prince Royal Treatment.

Us mere fans, fams, and friends who had only traveled from as far away as Italy, South Africa, Los Angeles, Kentucky, Washington DC, Detroit, Chicago, and Ohio --just to mention a few where completely disrespected after flying and driving numerous hours on faith and support of Prince, who obviously had no respect for or faith in his supporters to the point where he didn't even perform -- he did not have the common decency at the end of the evening to thank his supporters who had traveled, risking their lives after the September 11th terrorist attack, to show how much they believed in his so-called spiritual journey. I suggest he get [a] map for his journey -- because it appears what he does not practice what he preaches.

This entire experiences was extremely disappointing and discouraging to numerous supporters who actually thought Prince had "grown spiritually", but obviously the only thing he is interested in growing is his bank account balance. Ironically, how different is he than the preacher he refers to in "The Rainbow Children" album that is taking money from the congregation for his BMW - but in his case it is a purple Prowler. Oh-- I forgot to mention he did appear for two minutes, just long enough to scan the crowd for a potential "muse."

The one positive aspect of this experience is the "former supporters" of Prince now know his true motivation; it is unconditional love all right - - that is the love of money.
