In the Best of Maxim issue # 1 (LAME)they go thru thier past 5 years. For the year 1999, pg. 82, the large caption reads;

THIS IS GETTING CRAZY..MUST..STOP..THINKING..ABOUT PRINCE

& at the very end of the mag, it goes thru the future of Maxim n states for the year 2099;

tonight Maxim parties like it's 2099. Prince's head, kept alive with electrodes in a jar of formaldehyde glued to our pinball machine, is seen to bob along.

A picture of Prince's head circa 1997 is shown like the apple of NY dropping on new years n the small caption says;
"True to his word, he pissed down my neck"

It seems that all Maxim related mags have to mention Prince at least one time a month. Bet he gets cover of Blender soon.
