it's like being invited to a dinner and when finished eating everything, rise and sing: "The food was shitty".
Well, Grammy's promoters will think twice before inviting him again, nice move...
cheers

Not caring if you won or not is better than being a bitch like 50..

By stating publicly that you "don't care", you're only showing that you do care. If he really didn't care, he wouldn't have submitted the album and he most certainly wouldn't have turned up.

There's plenty of artists that genuinely don't care and guess what? They don't talk about it and they don't turn up.

Grammy promoters will look at the ratings and think: hmm this Prince guy didn't do too bad.. maybe we should invite him again?

First of all, it would have been nice if Prince had won, but since he didn't so what! He's getting inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I want him to start getting lifetime achievement awards for all the stuff he has done, not just for the NEWS album or any of the stuff he's done in the last 4 years. And for my response to Neosoul: So what if Beyonce won five Grammys, she's still not all of that, so did Norah Jones last year, the year before that, Alicia Keys, and in 99 Lauren Hill, so what point did you make! Prince is not a sell out and if he gets to acting like a bitch, like, I ain't saying no names (Justin Timberlake) and starts apologizing for what is and what he does, then he's a sellout. But as far as I'm concerned he's as real as it gets. He could teach these artist today how it's done.

Always this bandying of the word "commercial"... even if an artist reserves the right to do whatever (s)he wants, without pandering to the tastes of others, it is still ideal to get a maximum of exposure when possible, isn't it?

I mean, if you've got a message to get out there, let's get it out to as many people as we can - lots of people watch the grammys, right?

I don't think people can be separated into "commercial" and "non-commercial" categories anyway. There's only so many new ways for busy people to hear about new music. And not everyone listens to NPR, for example, or checks out local music scenes.
