Plastikman uses 1999 sample [This DJ is out pimping this hardware device everywhere! -Ben]
Techno legend, Richie Hawtin, A.K.A. Plastikman, talks about incorporating a Prince song into a "New" Richie Hawtin song in the October edition of URB magazine: "We did a 'JAK' party in Detroit recently and I wanted to do something special for it. So I re-edited (the J.M. Silk song) 'Jack Your Body' so it only said 'Jack,' making it into a five-minute track. I took the opening of Prince's '1999,' the part that says 'Don't worry I won't hurt you...' and looped that into a track. I did all of that and more on a plane flight back from England!" ...Richie was talking about being one of the two beta testers of FINAL SCRATCH, a revolutionary new interface between the vinyl and digital worlds, which enables a DJ to remix digital tracks (CD/MP3) with the same technique that he uses with vinyl records. check Richie's new album 'DE9: Closer To The Edit' for an audio sample of the possibilities of the FINAL SCRATCH technologies, where he seamlessly blends over 300 samples into 53 minutes of future-funk. | |
