When they ever gonna let the West Coast watch this live? 5pm on Sunday is a good time -- why they gotta make us wait?
Anyway, I'm sure Prince has something up his sleeve, as usual. Should be fun.

By the way, on the CBS commercial for the Grammys, it shows Prince, in what appears to be a new video. He's sporting his new mini-fro, and there seems to be a group of women dancing around him. Could that be a video for Musicology?

that's cool: out of all the performing artists they show Prince on the Grammy-homepage
probably 'cause the news of him performing is so fresh. But I hope that pic will stay there!

Those of you who are not old enough to have seen Prince and the Relovaution RULE the Grammies and AMA shows during the Purple Rain era should go get the tape. Prince KILLS everyone when he does an award show and I expect the same on this year. It proves the undeminished relevance of Prince to the naysayers who were trying to write him off through through the 90s into this decade. Prince is up fpr a Grammy and doing the award show some 20 years after Purple Rain.
Respect is due. | |

so prince has played with george clinton and sting, and the foo fighters have darling nikki on the charts now. i would not be surprised if he joins one of these bands and does not do a song all by himself. should be interesting. [This message was edited Mon Feb 2 15:18:13 PST 2004 by comeon]

There is a magazine out where George Clinton interviews Andre 3000. And Andre tells George he never met Sly or Prince. And George says he will hook it up for him.

I agree with whoever said that it was the first time watching the Grannies (nice, I like that!) in a looong time. First awards show in ages. But yeah, a CONFIRMED performance (well, has it actually SAID "performance" yet?) by Prince? Uh, yeah...I'll be glued to the tube. Plus Outkast and The White Stripes and GC are funk/rawk daddies. No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

He must be up to something. He wouldn't agree to show up just to play a song and then disappear from the mainstream scene again.
Do you really think he'll perform Musicology? As long as it isn't some boring performance off NEWS. I wanna hear the man sing! The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

he needs to do something that will blow people away - something from NEWS is not going to cut it IMO. i pray he does something rock-oriented, something like 'da bang' or 'bambi' or a HARD funk jam that will knock the audience out lol. it cant be any flaccid funk jam. at least i really really hope it wont. this is a great chance for him to show the general public why he was so great - he better not fuck it up!
if he does perform with someone it should be like when the RHCP did give it away with the pfunk all stars, or at least on that level. [This message was edited Mon Feb 2 16:07:01 PST 2004 by funkbabyandthebabysitters]

I think the best choice would be "Sign o the Times" with a few new, relevant lyrics mixed in. What I don't want to see is some sort of medley. Just do one song, bring it then leave the stage without saying shit. Bringing Together Five Decades of R&B/Funk/Soul/Dance

Well...it says "special appearance" - are we SURE he's gonna perform? No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.
