He really is turning into a Vegas side-show isn't he. After that cheesy performance of Baby I'm a Star at Hong Kong it seems that Prince is turning into a parody of himself.

Oh well, guess it kept Tom Jones going.

Most TJ fans love the guy like STILL, in an amazing way, uh, kind of like most P fans did 15 years ago. And TJ works hard to keep it that way. Althought sometimes I think P works hard at alienating his fanbase, too, so maybe they're both putting in comparable effort, just with differing goals

Good point Ben, I think Tom has worked extremely hard in looking after his loyal fans with many meet & greet events (note - not charged for) and plenty of interaction.

Its worth noting that Tom actually became so "Vegas cheese" that he became cool once again to a different market. If Prince wants to appeal to the 80's retro market then that's his choice but what bugs me is how on one hand he denies the existence of the past and says that he doesn't want to go backwards with things like a revolution reunion but then on the other hand he wants to do greatest hits tours.

It'll be very interesting to see how he approaches this show. Either it will be a Greatest Hits style vegas act or it will be a showcase for new material. I honestly am hoping for the latter (despite that lame NPGMC style response from "MrLovesexy) but have a worrying feeling it will be the former.

What's everyone else's opinion to the format of the show (please note - opinions allowed and encouraged)

There are many reasons why people log on to Prince.org and nowhere in the rules does it profess that you have to commit to an unconditional admiration for everything Prince does. I'm sure your first take on this Vegas show was really constructive 2. The fact is it was dumb nutty of U 2 act like Prince plays there 20 times a year. Its a matter of respect and I seen nothing creditable by call him a Vegas side show? A parody of himself? etc...What is he so bad these days that he's still loveable in a tiny way 2 U? I'm just dissapointed that P didn't give us more warning. He sometimes forgets that many of his fans are not rolling in dough, and have to work for a living. I would have loved to have gone, but I can't afford plane fare at such short notice, nor can I just up and take off time from work at the drop of a hat. I know that by doing shows at short noctice, he is fighting scalping, but he's also tying the hands of his fans as well.

For all y'all lucky enough to go, have a good time! I saw Duran Duran at the HOB a couple of years ago, and it is a fantastic venue. VERY small club. I have the feeling, since he is playing there and not at the Aladdin or MGM like previous times, that this is going to be much more of an "aftershow" type gig. regardless, it will be awesome to see him at that venue.

I called the HOB last night. They said they had been receiving a lot of phone calls about the show and advised me to consider waiting to purchase the tickets as to them it was not 100% confirmed on their end. The gal I spoke to told me of a lady who had bought her tickets, found out she could not go, tried to get a refund and could not.

The show is General Admission.

The HOB's max capacity is 1,800 people.

I'm checking out the NPGMC to see if there's any updates. If there is...I'll post them.

I Sence somthing spectacular in the air...Ahhh, what I would give to be blown away by his guitar playing !!
