Prince and Ownership Issues in XXL Interesting tidbit in the October issue of XXL: rapper Big Daddy Kane was reminiscing about his 1988 song "I'll Take You There", and he had this to say:
...(producer) Marley had the Staple Singers' "I'll Take you There" 45 ... Apparently Prince owned the rights to all the Staple Singers' songs and wasn't trying to let no rappers use it. So we put it on the back burner. But when I signed with Warner Bros., that was the same label that Prince was on, so then Prince was cool about it." | |
