Robert M. Parker, Jr, arguably the world's most influential reviewer of fine wines, and publisher of The Wine Advocate bimonthly wine consumer guide, borrowed a famous line from Prince to introduce the outstanding 1999 Oregon wines.

Appearing in the August 31, 2001, Issue 136, the following headline appears:

The 1999 Oregon Vintage
"Tonight We're Going to Party Like it's 1999!" - Prince

Imagine my surprise seeing this quote in the characteristically drab and fact-laden Wine Advocate magazine. I am not aware of a prior Prince reference from Mr. Parker, the famous 54 year-old wine enthusiast.

The article goes on to extol the virtues of Oregon's 1999 vintage of pinot noir, pinot gris, and chardonnay.

It's a small news item, but one that should be enjoyed by all who share a passion for wine and the music of Prince.
