I have a coworker whose best friend is employed with a lighting company. Apparently, the company he works for was recently employed by Prince to do stagelighting for his upcoming six month tour that will begin in Minneapolis on September 6th. The Mill City Music Festival, I presume. The tour is supposed to include some U.S. dates including Madison Square Garden and possibly SEVERAL dates in LA (To make it up to the disappointed fans who didn't get to see him last time around??) And it will also include some European dates, as well. The highlight of this tour is to be his New Year's Eve show. Allegedly, Prince's first pick is the pyramids in Egypt. However, Pink Floyd also has dibs on performing there on the same night. The second choice is supposed to be Madison Square Garden. If these plans do not work, the Target Center is the final choice. Now, I don't know how much, if any, of this is true. But, this information was given to me by someone who isn't even all that into Prince and I thought it was strange that the pyramids show came up and the several possible dates in LA were mentioned. So, who knows. But, if any or all of these things DO happen...remember where you heard it first! (prince.org!!!!) I'll try to send an update with the name of the lighting company as the name escapes me at this time.
