They should just mirror the site on several free web hosts, and each time they shut one down, throw it up on another.

Interesting. Once again he repremands people for loving his music and spending time on sharing that love with other people. Creating a website takes TONS of time. YOU SHOULD APPRECIATE THAT, PRINCE.
I was reading a bit about the history of the site and noticed that it was originally modeled after a site dedicated to a TRUE artist, Tori Amos. http://www.geocities.com/...bdnew.html Right on the front page of that site it states: "Since the advent of home CD-burners, CD bootleg companies have pretty much all called it quits. It simply made no business sense for them to dodge the law anymore while home users and stores copied all the work they did anyway. New silver bootlegs have gone the way of the dinosaur." So what is the problem exactly? Bootleggers are out of business! NO ONE is loosing money! There are lots of sites where people download live mp3s like this: http://hereinmyhead.com/sounds/sw.html, and Tori doesn't mind!!! Plus, there is a community that trades WAVE files of FULL concerts! I don't have time for all that, but that fact that it exists and Tori is cool with it, just proves how much better she is than Prince. Hey Prince, I'm really sorry for having interest in your music. Please forgive me.

There is another bootleg guide site that is even more current and I love it and use it most every day. I hope Prince's people don't find it and shut it down. I won't put the name here, but it is a great one. HI, want is another site I can go to? scotherd@hotmail.com

It's all about the $$$ for Prince. i admire uptown for standin up to the Paisley Legal Mafioso and provin that his claims were total b.s.--perhaps others can follow suit and stand up against junk like this. it's like i've said numerous times before: prince should get up off his ass and release this stuff in a legit format so he will not HAVE to worry about bootleggers beating him at his own game! it ain't hard to fathom at all!! and what's the matter with informational websites, folks are supposed to be in the dark about stuff or what?

everyday, I am more convinced that Prince is farther from us and from the guy who once brought good things to our lives. I think that there's no way back to what he used to be... he has once been an oustanding artist, now...who is he? It is a shame!!!

It's been a long, long time since I've truly cared about Prince & his music. Every time I check out the news, there's another reason to not give a monkey's fuck. This is a big reason. The man is a delusional, paranoid, selfish twit. Embrace your fans, don't sodomize them with your Watchtower booklets... "Drop that stereo before I blow your Goddamn nuts off, asshole!"

I think that by talking about and reviewing boots, you are in a sense soliciting them as it encourages your demand and need to look for them.
However, the best way to stop demand for bootlegs is for him to release the unreleased stuff himself, something which we all try to encourage. An alternative is perhaps the bootleggers pay a percentage of their money to Prince, but then he would probably sue them for selling them in the first place. I didnt realise Prince had all these unreleased songs until I heard them, and when I did I was surprised how good they are (even better than some released songs), so I feel he should maybe start to put them out.

YES -- your right, the site reads like its "telling" tht it does not know where the boots are. It is kind of assuming that most fans know where the boots are. Why would a site discuss boots and think they are not promoting the sale of illegal recordings, don't fool yourself they are promoting illegal material. That is just plain wrong. Aren't most boots just crappy audio anyway?

Well, if you really want Prince to stand up and listen...hit him where it counts. Don't buy his official shit anymore and stop signing up for the B.S. club membership and let him know that he is affecting his fanship. All we do is support him and follow him and try to get our hands on anything he does. He should think of this as compliments to him and his art. Instead he thinks we are stealing from him and his vault. Not hardly!!! We have supported him thru the years. Again, if it wasn't for bootlegs and live shows, I would have stopped following Prince along time ago with all the wacked out bullshit he has been pulling on the plublic and his fans.
Oh well, maybe people will wake up and stop spending their money to support his so-called cause. Slave my ass! He has always been in charge of his own destiny. He just can't control everyone else too.

True, whoever stole his recordings should be punished/taken down...BUT, the people who are running the G2P.org are NOT the ones who STOLE his music, they're just discussing what was made available. I really think Prince's energies have been misdirected at those who are not the enemy. He has villified his fans for discussing the joys of his music.

So where are the lawyers offering their pro bono legal services? There's at least a case to be made.
No one seems to have offered anything beyond baseless opinion on the legality of the site. Where's someone who actually knows the relevant legal implications? Deane can be contacted from the g2p.org site...

I am bored with Prince - it's been like that since 1988, nothing really great about the man just an empty shell.
Fed up with his religon, control over his music, just boring. His control on websites is silly - if he wanted his music to be free where is it? NPG that's a laugh. The only good releases that Prince didn't release was the outtakes. Moonraker did it instead, the triple set outtakes, the 1977 demos, the rebel outtakes etc... 2004 will be another boring year for Prince, Purple Rain DVD more $$$ for Prince - 2cd set also more $$$ Fams grow up and stop buying into this mixed up man!
