keep the (real) fonk alive! I've already heard the song and I have to say it's pretty good. Especially the first verse is very cool. The rest of the song gives credit to the original arrangement but because of it, it fails to stand on it's own, in my opinion. However, the album contains some very good songs for funky r&b-lovers...

It is pretty close to the original, and is not a total different arrangement like the Louis Armstrong cover he done of "What A Wonderful World" on World Idol.
Guy and his manager (who is a regular at this site) are HUGE Prince fans, so give them some credit. and believe it or not, that's not a wig, it's his real hair! Xperience the Peach & Black Podcast: http://peachandblack.podbean.com/

he sounds like D'angelo on many of the album trax, and his version of when doves cry is awesome, i cant believe that Danish Hobbit won world Idol, he was awesome but as a Bono tribute impersonator. Guy is da bomb, Go the Fro If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it!

Great song & great effort from Guy Sebastian. His other singles from his album, namely ~Angels Brought Me Here~ and ~Just As I Am~ are also great, looking forward to hearing the entire tracklist from his album soon.
Unfortunately he'll have to deal with the BS that comes along with the rather poor title & reputation of Pop Idol, but he is a Go The Fro' Star in the making. "To Touch People, All U Need Is 2 Give Yourself Through The Music" Guy Sebastian

I think he is talented. His version is pretty good and if nothing is making a few people stand up and ask about the song writer, Prince. The album as a whole sounds like an artist is his early days of slavery. Good luck 2 him and hope he can get free later on becuase he is a free spirit.

There was a time when I lost all faith in the general music buying public. Now that G.S. is being praised, I have finally lost faith in Prince fans too.
I wonder what Prince would say about a tycoon-funded, gimmicky TV show recruiting "new artists" for the major labels, when there are REAL songwriting/instrument-playing musicians out there struggling to survive, who have worked harder and have more talent, and who are more deserving of the backing and publicity that these "idols" receive ...

Totally agree with fudgeface.
Fortunately Guy won't last. He'll bring out a second album, It'll flop, and he'll get dropped from his label. End of story.

Oh, boy, this is a F***g sad time in the history of Australia. Guy F***g Sebastian, what a joke!! This is a Prince fan site and we introduce an embarrasment such as this? Ronald McDonald unmasked? The clown has no musical talent at all, like Kylie Minougue, Karaoke Princess, singing to the beat. Anyone can do it, ANYONE. It shows the music industry has fallen on it's ass when people are responding to this crap we're all being fed on, and people F***G BUY IT??? What gives??? Imagine this clown in concert!!! Ha ha!! Be like watching Robbie Williams, a total SNOOZE!! Guy and all the other 'POP stars'(?) will all fade, two years from now those who were masterminds of all this shit will be living it up while the followers will be ashamed they were so blind to see. There are only few talented artists left, our man is one. Please leave Guy in the gutter where he belongs.

The sad thing is that he performed this butchered so called cover version on television around the time that Prince was in Australia. But then again he also butchered another song at the World Idol final. A possible trend???

Fudgeface, I agree with you 110%, what the hell is going on here, Prince fams even considering talent of 'Ronald McDonald unmasked'? Where the hell did he come from, manufactured like Kylie and Robbie as I mentioned. I read recently where the amazing mime artist Robbie played in Germany, the performance was paused 3 times, as he forgot the lyrics!! Didn't he write it?? Ha ha!!! He actually stops the band and announces he has forgotten the lyrics... hmmm. Anyway, anyone can stand up at a pub and belch to someone elses tune. These Idol F***s do it and get worshiped by brain dead children, and unfortunates who have little intelligence, which seems to be far too many. I'm FLABBERGASTED as to how on earth this has all come about. I just want to scream! I'm totally ashamed to be Australian. Also, has anyone ever seen a more ugly human being than Guy Sebastian??

Unfortunatly, having just logged on, and only having browsed over two links, i found one to be soaked with Justin Timberlake and his N'suck buddy, who has apparently also gone solo (like anyone gives a shit!) and now Guy Sebastian.I have no problem with various musical genre, like most P fans we soon develope an eclectic palate, but seriously, Guy is only ripping off, an already ripped off version of WDC.(from the Romeo and Juliet soundtrack).I don't understand how anyone could bother to give it any time of day, especially at this site. At least we can all look forward to his musical descend after that second album.
