"Similar to D'Angelo, Bilal's old school, hip-hop tinged approach to music has critics comparing him to the usual suspects-Al Green, Prince and Marvin Gaye. "I think the timelessness of my music brings about those comparisons," says Bilal. "I'm an artist so I take my music very seriously and if somebody says,'You sound exactly like Prince' I want to put my middle finger up. It depends on how the comparisons is done."
