Prince hires PR to protest VBOP CD

here is more from the music industry website, hitsdailydouble.com:

PURPLE PISSING MATCH:

The Artist Once Again Known as Prince isn't pleased with the recent Warner Bros. announcement that the company will be releasing a "Best Of" album on its new Warner Music Catalog label July 31, and he is making his feelings known online.

The Purple One's unhappiness about the company owning his masters has been known from the time he scrawled the word "Slave" on his face to protest the practice. He's even gone so far as to re-record some of his most popular songs in order to reclaim them.

Prince has cranked out the publicity machinery- he's being repped by Susan Blond- to trumpet the fact that fans are flooding his NPG Music Club website to protest the announcement. One fan writes in: "I think it-s typical of corporate America to continue to hold captive, control and use the work of its citizens for their benefit and gain." The writer was, no surprise, anonymous. (7/13p)
