LiveDaily Coverage of Tour Cancellation Live Daily mentions tour cancellation:
http://www.livedaily.city.../3322.html Prince cancels summer tour by Jon Zahlaway LiveDaily Staff Writer Prince, who last month announced plans for a 28-date summer tour of North America, has scrapped the outing after performing only a handful of shows. No reason was given for the cancellation. The North American tour began with a two-night stand in St. Paul, Minn., in mid-June, and was scheduled to run until early August. Performances were given in Columbus, Ohio; Detroit; Omaha, Neb.; and Milwaukee. The outing's Canadian dates were canceled shortly after they were announced, but a July 6 engagement at the Montreal Jazz Fest took place as scheduled. Plans for a "major" tour are still in the works, according to a spokesperson, but no specific details have been revealed. Meanwhile, a characteristically cryptic message posted on Prince's official website indicates that the musician and his band still may hit the road before summer's end. "Costumes, and set pieces r still ordered 4 The World Tour," reads the message, "as well as a physical therapist, cook and tutors 4 'studying' band members. All r hopeful that b4 the summer is out, PRINCE and the NPG will b coming ur way soon!" Prince's next album, "The Rainbow Children," is due out sometime this year, but no release date has been announced. published: 10-Jul-2001 | |
