somewhere amongst all this was also "diamonds and pearls" and "nothing compares 2 U" but I guess i got so caught up in hearing them that i 4got to write it down. if anyone can correct this set list, i'd be grateful.

This was my fourth concert and I have to say in all honesty that it was FAR superior to the Lovesexy, Act I and Jam Of The Year tours. There was a tangible, electric vibe circulating through the crowd. Quite surprised to hear him play "Scandalous, "The Beautiful Ones," and "Mutiny." It was nice to seem him back to his old sensual self, frolicking around on the chair with Geneva during "Little Red Corvette." He prefaced "I Wanna Be Your Lover" by teasing that probably noone remembered the song. (yeah, right)

"Sexy Dancer" stretched for what seemed like at least 15 minutes of pure bliss. Prince calls this big gal from the audience and asks her to dance for him. I thought this was interesting, as i couldn't remember one show I've seen where audience members got to take the stage. When 7 or 8 more people got invited on stage, I was kicking myself for not getting front row seats. Some guy in a SHARP looking suit got called on stage and Prince commented about his shoes: "Stacey Adams and all!" I laughed so hard i nearly fell into the next row.

"Housequake." Nothing i can say will adequately describe this, the funkiest performance of the funkiest song on earth. "The Ballad of Dorothy Parker" was jazzy but in a smooth, laid back kinda flow, not big band-ish like we've been used to hearing the backup band play. Prince changed the lyrics to "Yeah, let me get a fruit cocktail and a bag of chips." too cool.

And I gotta say that "Father's Song" played on sax had a mournful quality that drastically altered the tone of the original.

Afterwards, at Alrosa Villa, I chatted with the ultra-cool security team whilst waiting for Prince to show. No performance, so I couldn't justify shelling out 20 bucks just to see him sit and shmooze with people. A couple of people outside got to shake hands and hug Prince. Why? My guess is he was so pissed off at the idiot who took a picture of him inside the club (when it clearly stated on signs "NO CAMERAS. NO VIDEO") that he figured "hey, these are the normal ones." Lesson learned? Act like a fanatic, Prince won't bother with U. Act with some decorum, and U just might get his attention.

Positivity y'all,
ecstra
