Local (via Tennessee) Cali Band Covers Prince

That is the link to Let's Pretend We're Married, as covered by Self. The song is ok (I think its kind of a joke). There is a funny little speech about Prince and his career right smack dab in the middle of the song. I think the speech captures the sentiment of many .Orgers...who knows, maybe Matt and the band are .Orgers themselves!

If the link doesn't work, just go to http://www.Selfies.com and follow the yellow brick road.

I love it...that's one of the best Prince covers I've ever heard...retains the feeling of the original (I mean, BASICALLY) but does its own thang, tongue firmly in purple cheek.

At the end, he says that he wishes he could have touched Apollonia the way HE did, and then he's listing all the albums from Dirty Mind on (though I notice he skips over Graffiti Bridge) and he gets to the Symbol album and says, "Schwing?! Who names an album Schwing?!" - That's HILARIOUS.
No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I'm interning at this band's label (that's how I heard of them) and I thought some people here would be into it. The band, Self, is actually pretty good but they are at the bottom of the list here, especially with all of the financial problems happening. Anyway, they have about a million songs available for FREE download on their website, www.selfies.com

Oh yeah, one more thing,
He is a huge prince fan and makes many references to Prince throughout his career. Matt also plays most everything on his recordings too.

Check out the Self album "Gizmodgery". It was made with toys and nothing else. Absolutely incredible. Everything I've heard from them is great, and I have everythng they have released. If you think you don't like them, you're not listening enough. Very funky group- In my top 3 of all time.
