The last Paisley Park Party of the Celebration featured Nikka Costa and she was fabulous!!! Despite her mic going out not once but twice (Prince assured us that he was gonna kick some butt and we'll probably be reading about it in some ragmag) [Can anyone say unemployment line!!???]

So back to Nikka..... this girl was off the hook..... I had heard alot about her (all good) but had never heard her prior to last night. High energy, friendly, sexy, funny...
"Is there a New Power Generator in the house???"
(reference to the sound going out)

Her voice is fabulous and she has quite stage presence. She closed her set with Prince's ~ Anotherloverlikeyouneedaholeinyourhead,
she then returned for an encore ('Sista' may have been the title) which was a slow gospel-bluesy piece that she preformed acapella. This girl CAN SING!!! I was very much impressed!

I suppose I wasn't the only one who was hoping/expecting Prince to close the Celebration with a performance at the park, but, alas, this was not the case.

I remember sometime ago a report that there will be 3 performances this celebration. Security seemed to be a bit beefier last night. The stage setup seemed to have alot of his equipment set to go. All indications to me that it was on.

For whatever reason, could've been the sound system foulups or that Kip B. (hearsay) injured Prince's leg, that he did not preform.
Well whatever the story... I had a blast... dancing my self into a frenzy right up until the last song of the all night dance parties when they played 'Goodbye'. : (

Yup, that was me on the left side of the stage along the wall!!! I was makin the most of my last night at the Park!!
Well until next year of course. : )

Someone told me I was going off for over 5 1/2 hours nonstop, I don't know about that (left my watch at the hotel) but I do know I had a blast ~ just kicking it in my own little world.

Prince made a final appearance around 3:30 or 4:30 to thank us for coming out. He asked if we should do this every year ~ in which the response was a resounding YES.

He said he was tired and needed to rest his hurt leg and bid us all a goodnight. The staff was wonderful, there were additional restroom facilities, exit and return was permitted, and there was a table set up selling water and a soda machine that was stocked. All the little oversites of last years Celebration were attended to.

It was too much fun.
