Prince cancels Canadian tour

Some day Edmonton's Prince will come -- but not this summer.

It looks like the enigmatic soul singer has decided not to come to Alberta after all.

Prince has cancelled all his Canadian concert dates, including July 26 at Edmonton's Skyreach Centre.

Some shows, like Winnipeg and Toronto, had tickets going on sale this weekend. Others were only listed on his official Web site and were yet to be confirmed.

The Edmonton show was not official.

"Prince has changed his mind," said Skyreach Centre booking manager Gerry Stoll, who had been in talks with the artist formerly known as the Artist Formerly Known as Prince.

No reason was given.

"He's Prince," Stoll said.

According to the concert promoter, Stoll says, the wording of "Prince is not coming to Canada this summer" leaves the door open for a possible fall date.
