World's Biggest Hot Tub Debuts

NEW YORK (AP) - A tropical resort sprouted on the streets of Manhattan as former ``Baywatch'' star and Playboy model Carmen Electra slipped into a bathing suit and shared the world's biggest hot tub with about 70 of her closest friends.

Dozens of people who heard about the stunt on the radio showed up in bikinis and shorts on Tuesday. Splashing alongside them were college students, secretaries and others in rolled-up jeans, T-shirts and summer dresses - stunned by the sight of a hot tub in Union Square Park but unable to resist taking a dunk on an 85-degree afternoon.

Electra, 29, wearing a red one-piece suit, didn't take a dip in the crowded tub - fearing for her safety.

``It's too wet and wild in there!'' she said.

The hot tub - measuring 24 feet across and 41/2 feet deep, weighing 112,900 pounds and holding 13,000 gallons of water - was certified by Guinness World Records as the biggest in the world.
