NPG Ahdrio Show 5 (Tracklist & Mini-Review) NPG Ahdio Show 5 (59.36)
1) (segue) Salome - Intro *2) Pop My Clutch - Chaka Khan (vocals more or less the same as album version, but a lot more happening in the background, such as piano bits, bassline, different arrangements, alternate instruments used in places etc. kinda like a remix/jam. quite funky actually, especially when the synths come in!) 3) (segue) Salome - shout outs & stuff, talks about familynames 4) (segue) Female Computer Voice - "welcome, u have just accessed The Akashic Records Genetic Information Division...please select race history.." (pause) "thank u, u've selected African American" 5) (segue) Male Computer Voice - talks about 'Black' & 'White', the 'Truth' etc. eye doubt it's any track from ANY album, but more likely general DJ narration present in all NPG Ahdio Shows. Although, ever since the music club Bgan, eye've been wondering about all those unidentifiable instumental jazz/orchestral fillers in the background *6) Race different 2 any other version, released or bootlegged. Few ditties placed over, nothing radical, but cool. plus words like "npg" & "ahdio" sampled over it. 7) (segue) Salome mentions Geneva *8) Sometimes It Snows In April there's something about the way this sounds, that makes me think, it's NOT the same as the album version. Both vocals seem different. Like, as if it's another take of what's on the album version. P's vocals sound slightly different. Could this B a re-recorded version 4 the PaisleyPark Greatest Hits package?? Is that Geneva on vox, & not wendy or lisa ??? Bascially, no sure about this track. 9) (segue) Geneva babbles 4 a few secs *10) Eye H8 U (quiet night mix) same as from maxi-single. *12) Heaven Must B Near - Ingrid Chavez definately not the album version. it may start off similar, but then goes off on one. strings, samples, more layered vocals etc. eye really liked the album, & this song is cool. 13) (segue) Geneva *14) TMBGITW (mustang) same ol' maxi-single mix. 15) (segue) Geneva justifies it. *16) The Future William Orbit remix, with a few drum & analoguesynth/wave samples added. 17) (segue) Geneva's "got 2 groove" *18) The Good Life (big city mix) - NPG CENSORED!!! this track ruled B4! anyway Geneva occasionally blurts "i got 2 groove" over it. otherwise, the same. *19) The Rainbow Children OHHHHH MYYYY GAAWWDD!! WOW!! YEEEAH!!! GO P GO!! RELEASE IT! LAWWD RELEASE IT!!! THIS GUY RULES!! AMAZING!! ppl, y'all have never heard P like this. hell, u ain't never heard ANYBODY LIKE THIS!!! EXPERIMENTAL BABY! sweeet!! the lyrics, sonics ALL OF IT kinda reminds me of the "Are U Xpereinced" album, & the track "EXP" from Axis:BoldAsLove, by the Jimi Hendrix Xpereince, mixed w/Beautiful Strange. the lyrix r quite abstract...think about it. Prince is an artist. hell, he's THE ARTIST, 'the' in the definitive sense. *20) Deep - N'dambi eye've never heard this track B4. nice, laid back track, kinda like the Davina album. 21) Geneva departs *22) Goldie's Parade - NPG same as album. *23) Organ Grinder same as getoff maxi-single, but w/added baseline @ 1 point. barely noticeable. *24) some funky interlude, electronic, & then some fake-brit-accent-havin' american spoofs music club complaints. *25) Madhouse Trax, 6, 7, 8 sounded different from the album versions 2 me. again, could B stuff added, or alternate take, or just a live session segued in w/studio versions. still, nice. All-in-all, a good show, if a bit of a replay 4 long term fams. But, the inclusion of remixes R good IMHO, 'coz not every fam these days can find maxi singles. the same goes 4 Madhouse. Worth it enuff, if just 4 the Xcitement from the Rainbow Children snippet. | |
