He also took questions from the audience, and on the question on which he found easiest - writing music or lyrics - he answered: "MUSIC!!! If I had lyrics for all the music I write, I would be...PRINCE!!!"

Cool. I think John Meyer is an authentic artist and it´s always nice when true musicians give props 4 Prince. As somebody reported, he included the verses of ´The Most beautiful Girl in the world´ in the end of ´Your body is a wonderland´. Must have been nice

I don't think John Mayer should be likening himself to Prince just yet. He has a VERY long way to go before he's that good.

I don't know know who John Mayer is but that was a cool compliment.

That wasn't the point of his comment.And, as Gustavo said, their styles are totally different. You'll hear a lot more SRV in Mayer's playing and writing (not to mention some pretty nice jazz touches, too) before you'll hear anything approaching P's most consistent styles.

P's lucky such a young and talented artist is mentioning his name these days.
