These talented musicians and producers really made the show flow and we gained so much insight into the land of creative music, the Twin Cities. In addition, we covered the spectrum of MPLS music. The listening experience should be the perfect prelude to the "Prince: A Celebration-The Rainbow Children". Several of the guests will be performing at the Celebration and gave a glimpse into how the week should go. Here's a brief recap of the show: KIRK JOHNSON- Great guest whose band, Fonky Bald Heads, rock the house. They are looking forward to tearing it up on June 12th. Kirk gives an insider's glimpse into collaborating with Prince in the studio at Paisley Park. Hit up www.fonkybaldheads.com for the latest. JACQUI THOMPSON- Jacqui is the executive producer of Unsigned Twin Cities which spotlights the new musical talent in MPLS. Jacqui is a fantastic guest whose project is to be highly commended. Go to www.unsignedrecordings.com for more info. JELLYBEAN JOHNSON- Always a favorite guest, we catch up with Jellybean and his numerous projects. Look out for the upcoming Ronnie Baker Brooks album which Jellybean produced and rave notices are being heard everywhere. In between the laughs and jabs, we find out how the Time prepares its music selection and much more. Not to be missed. ESTAIRE GODINEZ- This talented percussionist whose own band features Eric Leeds, Mike Scott, and Stokely Williams is currently on tour with George Benson. She recently worked in Prince's band for one year. Estaire's recent creations are featured on the Unsigned Twin Cities CD and " La Ultima Cancion" is a standout. TORI RUFFIN- Tori stops by "The Upper Room" for the third time and this world-class guitarist fills us in on the latest with Freakjuice. Plus, Tori throws out the funk challenge (all in good fun) to the Fonky Bald Heads for June 12th. MPLS needs some of that band rivalry again. The Time is busy with many upcoming dates so get ready to see the best in funk and roll. Take a sip of the Freakjuice at www.lamusic.com As always, thanks for the support and my appreciation to all the guests who took time out of their schedules to stop by. SUPPORT INDEPENDENT MUSIC. | |
