SPIN on Prince Celebration Will he be wearing his buttless pants?
Watching like a hawk, Beth! -Mico http://www.geocities.com/micorison Erykah, Nikka, and Alicia Celebrate Prince I wish I was Prince. That man can find an excuse to celebrate virtually anything. Remember "Prince: A Celebration?" Prince held that little soiree last year in honor of changing his name back to Prince-a cause definitely worthy of celebration. And now he's planned another celebration-from June11 to 17-but this time there's really no recognizable reason as to why. According to missives on Prince's official site, among those slated to perform at the event are Nikka Costa, Alicia Keys, Erykah Badu, and Common. The festivities will come to a close with a pair of performances by Prince and the New Power Generation at the Xcel Energy Center in nearby St. Paul on June 15 and 16. Special guests to be announced soon. This weeklong event will cost you about $70 bucks (via Prince's website) for a pass to Prince's illustrious Paisley Park estate in Minnesota. Prince will also be holding listening sessions previewing his brand new album, The Rainbow Children, during the festivities. At nighttime there will be performances by special people like Nikka and her writhing body. There will also be super-cool after-parties following the nightly shows as well as strange events like something called the Purple Masquerade Ball. In related news, Prince, now a Jehovah's Witness, announced last week that he has officially sworn off swearing - or "cussing" if you prefer, or are an outrageous Southern stereotype. He made this announcement in a forthcoming issue of Gotham magazine, where he also discusses the importance of God in the life of teenagers. Prince is currently in the midst of his Hit and Run Tour, in which he only announces a small number of dates usually a few days before playing them. In other related news, Prince recently launched his super-special New Power Generation Music Club, which allows subscribers special access to all things Prince, like new tracks, videos, messages from Prince himself and other fun interactive things. Prince is slated to perform at this year's Montreal's Festival International de Jazz, from June 28 to July 8. In very unrelated news, Beth: A Celebration is in the works. Start saving up now. It's a "must-see." http://www.spin.com/new/d...531-3.html | |
