The first version will premiere on the Cartoon Network website on June 4. It features animated versions of drummer Stan Frazier, guitarist Rodney Sheppard, singer Mark McGrath, bassist Murphy Karges, and DJ Homicide. In the Cartoon Network clip, McGrath is animated in the style of The Harlem Globetrotters, Karges recalls The Flintstones, Frazier took his cue from The Jetsons, and Sheppard is done in Speed Racer mode, while DJ Homicide is animated in an original manner. The official Sugar Ray video, non-animated, uses a concept that showcases each band member's personality. Karges told LAUNCH about the clip. "We're sitting there on a couch and the beginning has us going, 'Hey man, what do you want to do for this video?' And then the camera closes in on Stan and it goes to Stan's fantasy video," he explained. "And then in his dream the camera closes up on me and then goes into what I would think. So, basically you're seeing each guy, how they would do the video." Karges added, "Stan's set is like a Sade/Sting like thing where everybody is looking very tasty in suits. It goes into my set, and my set's like a 1977 punk rock club in L.A. and everybody's dirty and, like, leather jackets. I've got spiked hair, I looked like Sid [Vicious]. We're kind of just jumping around being idiots. And then it goes to Craig [DJ Homicide], it's like a strip club and we're all hip-hopped out. And Mark's fantasy is like Duran Duran in the middle of the '80s era. We've got wigs and makeup on. It's pretty f'n funny. It was a gas to do." -- Darren Davis, New York Related news item: http://www.prince.org/new....html?9597 | |
