Good thing it is shelved!
I wasn't expecting it in fact. But it's a good thing the NPGMC organisation is so friendly to let us now, something is officially shelved. Good work people! Thanx for the communication at last! Now, a new album with ten 'songs', a single release, a maxi, a video. just plain simple. I love Prince, but he needs to waken up a bit, or release his unreleased stuff for us faithfull fans.. dream on DorothyPark.

I'm glad in a weird way, as I don't have the money for the CI I'm sure.
Sounds like a bummer for Prince, that there was a prob with the manufacturing. I like the new groove.

Well, at least this time it was coummunicated. With all the money he's putting into standard methods of distribution, he really should think about posting individual songs available for download. That way, we can pick and choose the stuff that we like. Or Hell, he could sell rights to download albums (via individual tracks that is), instead of making us wait for distribution. The Rainbow Children was the last REAL album he released, and it was very hit or miss for his crowd.
Remember when he'd release and album, and even if you didn't dig it, another would be along in about 10 months that was completely different, preceded by a single that would get you inticed? It wouldn't be that difficult to do the same thing via the internet. I mean, a month or so before the release of an album, place a single track (and b-sides) up for download. 99 cents each, itunes style--now that would get some of us in a frenzy.

(don't recall the actual breakdown of the set).

Subscribing to a "monthly" club payment and getting whatever is avaialable to the club that month (usually 2 or 3 Prince songs, and a few "related artist songs) is a whole different thing from being given access to songs in his vault and being able to pay for each song as we want to. Some sites now give how low-fi previews to songs that you can download as mp3s, and you have the ability to pay for each song individually, or pay for an album and download all the songs from that album.
I'm not saying that what Prince has been doing is deliberately withholding music. I'm sure being in the business is a new learning experience for him. What I"m saying is there is a oppurtunity here for him to increase his revenues, simplify distribution, and make us happy at the same time.

???How long u been a prince fan??? Exactly. Prince sure is a pioneer - musically. As of running his own "label/distribution network" - he is not a pioneer at all. Putting songs up for sale on the website, or taking orders via the website and then mailing the CDs - that is very much old hat, and Prince (and his team) is ashamedly very bad at it. Regarding being a Prince fan - what a stupid question. I happen to be an old time P fan, getting all the good stuff on vinyl... But - if some 15 year old kid starts to dig Prince I am happy for him. Stop the arrogance!

I think there's a problem with Prince opening up a large portion of the vault and doing an "itunes" type thing. Basically the piracy and online sharing that would inevitably happen. Also the fact that although we/prince like the mp3 format, it is not and never will replace officially released hi-quality hard format recordings with artwork and liner notes etc. No one will remember or care about these "data only" internet released songs in 50 years - but you'll still be able to purchase Dirty Mind, Parade, Emancipation, and Rainbow Children! (hopefully!)
Prince knows that a carefully scuplted album of songs has far more lasting impact than an unfocused listing of titles to purchase for 99c each. I do realise that outtakes and alternate versions need some avenue for release (if at all - if Prince is concerned!) other than cd albums, and maybe those types of "reject" songs could fit into this sort of outlet if done correctly.

Why is there a poblem with the manufacturing, is it more than a CD, ie software or DVD also? http://www.goldiesparade.co.uk/ - Prince discography, tour history, news and more.
