Oakland/SF "Guestlist" woes Here's an e-mail I got from NPCMC after I complained about them charging for the
San Francisco aftershow tickets when they originally said we Premium members were on the guestlist: '"We never said the afterparty was free. In every city it is different. And all r plans had 2 change when it became an aftershow with a per4mance. It was no longer an afterparty. Tix have been put aside 4 Premium Members at a discounted price. They r there now at the Fillmore Box Office." OK, I bought my $30 tix, and the show was unreal, but here's a tip for u guys: if u are gonna retain loyal club members, you better get your shit straight. That means being clear about what you're offering, and if you have to change plans, being clear about why. You didn't do any of that with the SF afterparty. In an e-mail you sent out Friday, 4/27, you offered Premium Music Club members the opportunity to attend the soundcheck at the Oakland Arena, saying: "Ur names will all be on a guestlist." The you added: "P.S. This is the same guestlist that will get u in2 the afterparty." Then, when I e-mailed you back asking if my guestlist privilege included a plus-1, you responded, yes. Now -- as you and everybody else well knows -- "guestlist" means free admission, and so does "plus-1." You were inviting us as guests, and guests don't get charged. So by saying, "We never said the afterparty was free," you're being disingenuous. If you're gonna offer people free admission, then you should stick to it, or, if you MUST go back on the offer, u should APOLOGIZE for the change of plans and explain exactly why you had to renege on your offer. Instead of doing this, you weaseled. Not cool. I expect more honesty in the future. Peace, David Rubien [OK, it was confusing, and the Fillmore WAS chaotic. BUT, c'mon, the show was WELL worth $30, and they DID take care of NPGMC members before the "public". I think overall, besides some miscommunication, they did pretty damn well. I'm giving them a "B" here, and hoping it will improve more. --Ben] | |
