3rd report from Denver Hit n Run

The show last night in Denver was beyond words!

The connection between Prince and the crowd was unlike anything I have ever expierenced at a Prince show, and I've seen A LOT!! I won't go into the setlist because I'm sure someone else will, so I will just talk about the show.

Millenia, I really could have done without, they have great voices but they are not ready to be opening for Prince yet.

The Fonky Baldheads were off the hook. Kip is a very welcome addition to the band, because I did NOT like their first vocalist that I heard at the Celebration. Kirk Johnson was slamming on the drums, yes, I said he was slamming, and before you insert your
negative comments to that I'm a drummer so I do know what I'm talkin about. Kirk fits in way better here than in Prince's band.

And don't even get me started on John Blackwell. I can't even find the words to explain his drumming, has to be seen to be believed!!!

This version of the NPG is by far my favorite line-up to date. There is great chemistry on that stage. And Maceo Parker and Mike Scott also played on a couple of songs during Prince's set and that added a lot to the band. Prince and Mike dueling on guitar was mind blowing.

There is this love affair with Prince and Denver that seems to be getting stronger every time he plays here. The concert sold out in minutes and during "Purple Rain" he said, "Colorado, I love you
so much!!!! I'll be back real soon!" Anyone who was at the show will testify that it wasn't just that he said it, it was HOW he said it.

And by the way, as a member of the NPGMusicClub I received: 1. Priority seating that got me front row seats 2. Free admission to the afterparty for me and one person, so for me the club is a bargin so far!!!
