I was listening to Phill Jupitus breakast show on BBC 6 Music www.bbc.co.uk/6music this morning and their weekly "showbiz" reporter had the following news.

Not only is the film "Purple Rain" to be rereleased next year with deleted scenes included, but apparently Prince has agreed to "Purple Rain" being transformed into a stage musical!

I doubted it at first, but what with the recent hit "Queen", "Abba", "Madness" and "Rod Stewart" themed musicals making big business I don't think it is that outrageous an idea.

By the way BBC 6 Music is free from adverts, broadcasts on the internet (as well as DAB, Sat TV and Cable in the UK) and plays some classy music, including Prince frequently. When Prince talks about WNPG and names the artists he would have on the station, it makes me think of 6 Music. Intelligent station well worth checking out.

Well, here in the states in May, the Milwaukee Rock Opera will be putting on a live stage version of Purple Rain to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the release. A Prince Fest of sorts is also scheduled.

I think its law isnt it that to be a true appreciator of P you must be able to speak the words of the movie Purple Rain word for word as it runs...after seeing the flick probably over 100 times easy...I can realistically say that I have mastered that law
